King Letsie III of Lesotho invested into Constantinian Order

The Badge of the Order is a red enamel gold greek or flory cross set in gold with the letters I.H.S.V. (In Hoc Signo Vinces - the motto seen by the Emperor Constantine at his conversion)His Majesty King Letsie III of the Kingdom of Lesotho, the last reigning Roman Catholic monarch in Africa, has been invested as a Bailiff Grand Cross of Justice of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George.

His Majesty’s investiture into the Constantinian Order took place at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Lesotho to the Italian Republic in Rome and was conducted by His Eminence Renato Raffaele, Cardinal Martino, Grand Prior of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George. The investiture took place as part of the wider visit of the southern African monarch official visit to His Holiness Pope Francis at the Apostolic Palace, Vatican City.

Her Majesty Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso of Lesotho attended the ceremony together with senior ministers of His Majesty’s Government in Lesotho. Read more

Lunch fit for a King

Moshoeshoe’s day

On this day The 11 of March, the Basotho’s long lived heritage comes back life as we honour the former life of king Moshoeshoe I, the great leader and founder of our beautiful Basotho nation.  “Moshoeshoe’s Day” brings the whole nation together in all ten districts of Lesotho for a commemoration of our king on the day of his death (11-03-1870).

During my primary school days, we would dress in our school uniforms and march as a group to the statue of Moshoeshoe I, which is mounted on a hill in down town, Maseru.  There we would listen to a number of speeches by the current King Letsie III, the Prime Minister Phakalitha Mosisili and other government officials. We would learn about our history and how the Basotho nation came to be through the wisdom of our late founder. Read more
