Salt Tart – Afrikaans style quiche


  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 Cups of Milk
  • 2 Slices of bread
  • 2 Cups Grated Cheese
  • 1 Grated Onion
  • Mixed Herbs/Parsley
  • Bacon
  • Mushrooms

Cut the bread into small squares, it is partly used as a binding ingredient, then mix it with the eggs and the milk.

Salt Tart - Afrikaans style quicheGrate the Cheese and the onion finely so it can be spread through the entire mixture, mix it with the egg mixture.

You can add the Bacon and Mushrooms, use your own judgement on how much of each you want in your tart.  You can also add feta cheese, spinach or sausages.  Then season the mixture according to taste.

Now pour the mixture into a greased pan and sprinkle it with 1 cup of grated cheese.

Bake it at 180 Degrees Celsius for 30 minutes.
